About the Blog
Omidog is a blog dedicated to the education and entertainment of pet owners and animal lovers everywhere. There are several pet resources available on the web, but we had yet to find a creative, informative, all-inclusive pet blog that went beyond just dogs and cats. Despite the word ‘dog’ in our name, Omidog is here to reach out to pet owners of all types. We’re here to celebrate your pets and spread the knowledge of properly caring for them. We’re an honest and (hopefully!) entertaining spot for the latest pet news and product information, and we love animals just as much as you do.So whether you have a bulldog or a budgie, a goldfish or a guinea pig, a feline or a ferret, this blog is for you!
About the Author
My name is Lesley and I’m a life-long animal lover and self-proclaimed “cavy slave” (though I suppose one doesn’t really have a choice, haha). While I was growing up, my family had cats in our household, and the occasional fish. By the time I went to college, I took matters into my own hands and began exploring the wonderful world of pet ownership with the adoption of William Wigglesworth, my sweet and lovable hamster. When I was first thinking of adopting a hamster, it was like a switch got turned on in my brain. I realized that there were so many pets out there that I knew very little about, and I became ravenous for information. By the time William was in my arms, I felt like a hamster encyclopedia. And I kept on reading.About 8 months after William’s arrival, I arrived back at my dorm, smuggling in Gus-Gus the guinea pig. I had never given guinea pigs a second look, but suddenly I found an advertisement online and one little ’squeak’ was all it took for me to fall in love. He had some humble beginnings back in the college days, but he’s sitting pretty in his own homemade ‘cavy cage’ on a fleecy blanket with all the hay he wants now. Not long after came his ‘brother’ Max, and sweet little Peanut the teddy bear hamster. She’s fluffy.
After learning so much about these little guys (and girl!), it became that much more apparent to me that the proper information wasn’t getting to people when they needed it. At a pet store, you’re lucky if you even get a slip of paper with the most basic info on it for care. Hopefully this blog will help.
Right now, I’m the only author of Omidog, but it doesn’t have to stay that way! If you’re interested in contributing to the blog, please feel free to get in touch by leaving a comment or sending an email to info@omidog.com
Thanks so much and enjoy!
